the attendance in brampton was just over 2000 thats horrible when it fits 5000.It is funny when peterborough has a smaller arena and a bad team that we will
get better attendance.because we have over the past few weeks been getting atleast 3000 a game. it fits 3,900. peterborough has a population of 74,000 brampton
alot more. my point is brampton is bigger they have an elite team this year and they couldnt care less. peterborough is smaller doesnt have as much surrounding
area and we have better attendance. but if you want too use the excuse that we have been around longer look at the icedogs.

the GTA isn't a hockey town...it's a leafs town. sad really...nice barns in Mississauga and Brampton and no fans. Peterborough is also much, much
different demographically than these areas...so it's almost like putting a team in Nashville, a "non-traditional hockey market". It will take
time....

Peterborough is a hockey town. The Petes have made too big of a impact on hockey for a playoff game to be ignored at the Memorial Centre.

I wonder when/where Brampton will get moved to.
I was at game 2 and was amazed at the low attendance/lack of noise. This is a serious team they have here. |

They won't be moved... the owner has more money than he knows what to do with it, and the Battalion basically don't cost him much at all... if he
REALLY cared about the team that much and about profti margins he would've fired Butler long ago...
Plain and simple, Abbott will not sell the team because he doesn't care enough. Ownership reflects fan base. |

I would say that the whole military motif is probably what keeps a lot of fans out of that building.
They're called the Battalion, nicknamed the Troops, and their uniforms are designed to look like military wear. If the whole army thing stopped there, fine, but they take it way too far. -Calling the rink the 'bunker' -Having an air raid siren and sounds of gunfire and bombs dropping instead of a goal horn -playing "War (What is it Good for?)" after every goal -"One minute until cease fire" It's incredibly stupid. The obsession with the military theme is taken too far, and in my opinion it diverts too much attention away from the on-ice product. At the end of the day you should be trying to sell hockey, not a miniature army. Next thing you know they'll have the zamboni painted to look like a tank. |

:P The Zamboni's are owned by the city of Brampton, so that won't be happening!
Hahahaha... but you're right, the Battalion are the campiest team in the league by a mile... but once again, Ownership just doesn't care. Why should they? They're not worried about making money with the team. I doubt ownership REALLY has any commitment to winning... if they did Butler would've been relieved of his coaching duties a long time ago... Especially since up until this season the Battalion have never had much success outside of the first round (Tonight Brampton ensured that the worst they could do this season, is tie the best season they've ever had... I'm pretty sure Brampton has never gone past game 5 of the second round, and tonight, by winning game one, Brampton is ensured they'll at least get that far!). No no... Ownership keeps Butler in because they are buddies with him. Stan will continue to coach the Battalion for as long as he wants, because he's got a choice... and I think that's where the problem lies. People don't go to the games because ownership proves time and time again that they don't care. When the team first came in the building was packed alot... even as early as 2001 the team drew very well, especially during the playoffs... but in recent years, people stopped going. I think that's the problem. Ownership shows it doesn't care about a winning product, so why should anyone else? |
